  • Case #4
Product re-launch: A new topical eye drop was launched in a major market with the primary goal to compete on price. The initial marketing initiative showed limited success and PRN designed a competitive strategy based on clinical science. The results from several cost efficient studies produced publications that revitalized the product. Sales subsequently tripled! At the end of the product’s life cycle the same publications were used yet again to harvest profits.
Product re-vitalization: A company with a topical product within a contracting market asked PRN’s to help maintain sales. PRN designed a study that compared the product to the largest competing product. The study provided compelling safety and efficacy results which helped maintain sales for years after publication. The project also solidified the company’s relationship with key opinion leaders. A follow-up study several years later provided similar positive results.
Enhanced company exposure: A market company with a new worldwide ophthalmic brand was unable to penetrate one country’s market.  The Product Director believed a phase IV study could provide enhanced exposure to the country’s thought leaders but had never before performed clinical research in ophthalmology.  PRN crafted a protocol, worked with the company’s clinical group to organize the study, and helped further relationships with the country’s thought leaders.  The ensuing publication enhanced relationships with key opinion leaders and broadened the company’s national exposure..
Data empowerment.  A market company performed several large experience trials to involve private ophthalmologists in clinical research but failed to disseminate the information in a clinically acceptable manner.  PRN evaluated the data then developed and implemented a plan leading to five published manuscripts.  PRN also participated in a country-wide lecture tour to educate physicians about product and  study results.  As a result the company dominated the market in that country for many years.
